ACBAR.
Swiss Made · since 1923

Ratios up to 13,600:1.
In a single stage. Maintenance-free.

The ACBAR eccentric gearbox transmits force through rolling contact instead of gear teeth — extreme reductions in minimal space, high shock resistance, lifetime lubrication. Built by AKIM in Altendorf, Switzerland.

The principle

Rolling contact instead of gear teeth

Inside the ACBAR, an eccentrically driven cam disc rolls on a ring of pins. The load is shared across many contact points simultaneously — not concentrated on a single tooth flank.

That is why the ACBAR tolerates overloads and shock loads that would damage conventional gearboxes, and achieves reductions for which other designs need multiple stages.

  • Symmetrical, compact, coaxial design
  • All moving parts run on rolling bearings
  • Sealed all round, no oil fittings
  • Any mounting position, direct fit for IEC standard motors
Standard range

6 frame sizes — from lab drives to 1,000 Nm

A modular system: 12 mounting arrangements, standard ratios from stock drawings, reduced-backlash versions and special designs on request.

Applications

Built for machines that must not stand still

01

Travel drives

Mobile machinery under high loads and rough conditions — rolling power transmission absorbs shocks that would destroy gear teeth.

02

Hoists and winch drives

Overload safety and controlled motion: high reduction in a single stage, near-self-locking configurations on request.

03

Slewing and swivel drives

Smooth running and high torque in minimal space — coaxial design, any mounting position.
